'99 leaking coolant
I have a '99 ls, with a 3100, ruffly 60k miles.
She's loos'n coolant out the Intake mani-gasket, drivers side. I thought I had remembered hear'n somthing about a manifold problem with these motors... any help? Warp? Crack? WTF? and when did intake manifolds start carrying coolant!? Any help greatly appreciated. |

The intake manifold has coolant passages on V-Type engines- should have on some in-line engines. The replacement gaskets from Car Quest or any other supplier are much improved over the original gaskets. The are made of silicon rubber. Tighten the vertical bolts before the diagonal bolts- very important step. You should use the new style bolts- they have loctite already applied and should not loosen over time. Be sure to clean out bolt holes. Its a simple job if you pay attention to disassembly. |
