automatic LS/v-tec questions
I am wanting to buy myself a US spec '90 Integra LS, but it is an automatic.. I have to use the JDM PW0 or PR3 pre-obd ecu's w/ v-tec for an automatic transmission. My hope has ran out for finding one of the ultra-rare ECU's and I was curious if an apex unit could control all then v-tec functions the ECU would normally take care of, like the V-tec crossover, the knock sensor, ect.. I will be doing the swap myself, so would the Apex unit be easy to install?? If this unit will control it, then what Apex unit should I look at?? Any help would be greatly appriciated!!!

You are building a LS/Vtec then, using a USDM 90 B18A1 block, correct? I am guessing you are in Japan. Which head are you using, a B16A head? Couldn't you use a AT B16A ecu. I know there where AT B16A's in Japan. The Civic Ferio SiR (or was it the SiR II) had an AT B16A. I would think that ecu should work to control the Vtec on an LS/Vtec if that's what you are trying to build. Also, I am not sure, but couldn't you get the obd-I ecu from a AT B16A and convert it to non-obd. It's 1am here, so if that last thought is wrong, sorry. I do know that AT B16A's did exist in Civic's in Japan, and that a fair chunk of the SiR or SiR-II Civic Ferio's came with an AT b16A. As for where the Apex'i unit can contol the vtec without a vtec ecu...you'd probably have to contact Apex'i. I do know a shop in Arizona that could probably answer your questions. They do lots of stuff, and know there LS/Vtec info very well. However, if you are indeed in Japan, I doubt you want to call Arizona. If I am wrong, let me know and I can give you the number and name. I hope I helped a bit. Sorry I couldn't help more, but it's 1am and I didn't get much sleep last night, so I am very tired.

Re: automatic LS/v-tec questions
no,no I live in tennessee, and I bought the JDM TEg XSi from a friend who imported it on e-bay and wreaked it and sold it to me for a grand, some mods, and a '99 civic Si obd 2 emissions system so it would pass inspections.....I bought the LS to start driving, because the XSi is so valuable to me, and it is starting to have issues with the electrical system.....
no, the Civic Ferio was a OBD-1 i beleive, and I dunno how to convert it w/o buying a harness with $$$ I don't have..... the PW0 would work and so would the PR3, but I have serched literally 1000's of pages looking for one, but no luck on a stock one, hondata does carry one though for 400+ tuning time, which is too much for me, $200 is about what I can spend on it.the cmoplete B16A is swaped and hooked up in the tranny the electronics just need work.... |

Okay, you have me confused now. So you have a JDM Integra XSi and a USDM LS Integra? The JDM XSi has a B16A? So you kepted the B18A1 in the LS or put in a B16A? I got the impression you threw the B16A head onto the LS block since you said "LS/Vtec" in the title. But your 2 posts seem to confuse me as to what engine is going into or is in what. I am guessing it's either a B16A into your 90 LS or you are LS/Vtec'ing the B18A1 from the 90LS, since you need the Vtec ecu for the car. So this is going into the 90 LS you are refering to, not the XSi, correct? I know the Civic Ferrio AT B16A ecu would work, if you convert it, but you said you can't afford to mess with or buy a wiring harrness. Hmm, I don't know what to say, if you can't afford the Hondata either. Would you have to mess with tuning on it? I mean, couldn't you buy the hondata and just leave the tuning stock, it should run fine since you don't have a highly modded motor I am guessing. If O can ask, what year is the XSi? So it has a B16A in it you said? The XSi was the rare all-wheel drive JDM Integra that didn't sell too well, wasn't it?

Re: automatic LS/v-tec questions
okay, I am going to answer your questions backwards. The XSi was front wheel.. The ZXi was allwheel with a D16Y. I droped the whole B16A in there with a LS crank. the B16A I droped in was the original motor for the XSi, but I blew it and was going to use it as a parts motor but got the LS and decided to rebuild it and drop in in the LS...The hondata system comes with noting programed on the ECU and therefore you have to add specs just to even get your car to start...Hondata doesn't sell Auto tranny, pre-obd, vtec ECU'sThe apex unit V-AFC II might work though..
