When i'm driving over little bumps in the road like earthquake cracks, my front end makes a clunk noise. What could that be my Axle???

Do you have the LS? My Malibu is just the standard malibu--and it's notorious for getting rocks trapped in the front wheels (behind the plastic fake rim)
The rocks resonate--and one time I could SWEAR I had a wheel bearing going out. |

i have an ls too and the front makes a big engulfing sound over crapy streets, and I think maybe if u have nothing in ur trunk their no even weight, so the engine weight is slightly heavier for the front, i think maybe the struts in the front are possabliy just short of being not enough for the car, i dunno that's what my opinion is, but regarding the front shocks too, have u noticed how driving the malibu harder and quicker through the bumps makes it take them better, like u have to push the car to get it to a good acting level. -not a mechanic, but that's what my 2 cents are

My 97 Malibu had the clunking noise going over bad area's in the road ( and there aren't many good roads here) I took it to Chevy Service and they replaced a part...No noise since. However, I recently developed a new problem where the car won't start. Lights, radio, etc come on, but won't start. Understand its the passlock system which is part of the anti-theft system... The car has to sit for about 20 minutes, then it'll start. Chevy service can't find problem since no error code is sent to their diagnostic computer because the car computer doesn't think it's doing anything wrong...it thinks its keeping a thief out. Talk about frustrating. One day it did that to me and I went out that day and bought a Toyota.
