I have a 2000 Yukon Denali. I have taken this p.o.s. to the local GMC dealer over 10 times now. Starting at 4800 miles, the car would not start (sitting less than 12 hours). Today, it has 70,000 miles and they (GMC mechanics) STILL cannot figure out what is wrong.
I have had diagnostic tests performed with tech2 and no problem has been found. They say all valves are normal. In 2003, while driving the car just died going 45 mph. They replaced the fuel pump and serpentine belt. A service injectors/throttle body was was added or replaced. I am not a car guy, so all I know is what I read off the 12 service/maintenance reports in front of me. I just had the car towed back to service today. I woke up and it was dead. They tell me I have to bring it in without being jump started so they can run tests. Still, they can't find a problem. I don't want to be on the freeway going 70 with the kids in the back and this car just decides to die right then and there. Also, there has been over 6 times that when accelerating, there is a very loud ticking noise. They worked on the drive shaft slip yoke a few times. Some visits, they couldn't find this problem. I have had problems with OnStar just coming on for no reason, the front door coming off alignment, the left taillights continually going out. The repair men are tired of me coming in and complaining how they need to find out what the hell is wrong with this car. I'm tired of waking up to a dead car or some problem that was 'supposedly' fixed now there again. Someone please lend me some advice. please post or email at [email protected] Thanks, B |

Re: HELP!!! '00 Yukon Denali keeps dying when driving and when parked.
Have they replaced the PCM (computer)? The fact that they can't find a problem probably means that the PCM is bad.
If your dealer won't replace it, get the regional rep involved and get it replaced. Good luck! //2000CAYukon |

Re: HELP!!! '00 Yukon Denali keeps dying when driving and when parked.
Do you have any aftermarket electrical equiptment in the truck? I had the same problem in my '96 Lexus. Which makes me very nervous about modifying my new Denali. Lexus blamed the aftermarket equiptment, the shop that installed the stuff said it was a problem with the car. When I got my Denali I took everything out of the Lexus except the HIDs and the alarm and gave the car to my mom. Since then, there has not been any problems with it. Good luck!

Re: HELP!!! '00 Yukon Denali keeps dying when driving and when parked.
There has been no aftermarket equipment installed. We had problems with the OnStar twice. It would judt come on and not shut off. They said they fixed it, but we ended up just disconnecting it.
Three days I had the car towed ($75) to the service dept. dead cold. Today, they say they STILL CANNOT duplicate the problem. Therefore, they cannot fix something that is not broken. Unbelievable! I am taking the car to another GMC service dept. to run the same tests. I have been in contact with GMC customer service regarding this and I am conting the better business bureau regarding the lemon law. I do have 12 service invoices dated back to 2000 with the same stalling problem. Anymore advice would be great. B |
