Question Petrol smell in car while driving

While I am driving my MF Barina I can smell pertol fumes inside the car, I only just purchased the car, so I havent had the time to purchase a workshop manual but I have a hunch that it is the ventilation tube from the fuel tank but with school and work (and just sort of starting to learn about cars) It is quite hard for me to really pinpoint the problem.

All help would be greatly appreciated

Jason

Re: Petrol smell in car while driving

Pull off the rear interior panels ont the fuel inlet side of the car and check for cracks around the piping that leads to the fuel tank.

Also other areas to check are the spare wheel well and the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the engine.

It could also depend on whether the tank is located inside the car or bolted to the uderbody.

I hope these few tips can help you in your quest to find the problem

Cheers
