Question What BHP has my Corolla got??

Hi
i own a manual 5 speed toyota corolla with a stock 1.3 12v engine (wont be stock for long) i was wondering what kind of power it kicks out?
I looked on a survey site and a bloke who has the same car as me said it was kicking out at the 80 BHP mark which i thought was a nice round number for what is a small engine. But is this right? Can ne1 tell me what power the engine has even though it is small. when me and my dad took it for a spin after slinging on my alloys it did seem quite 'nippy' for the engine it has.
so if ne1 knows the power please tell me and put me straight.
Cheers

The only available engine in 91 for corolla was a 1.6L, 103 hp at the flywheel, about 80 hp to the wheels.

Really?
So the 1.3, 1.6fe and 1.64a and 1.8l cars don't exist?

In Japan there were 4 differnt enigne options for the corolla.
Lesser models got a 1.3 single cam, main stream models got a 1.6l Twincam, upmarket 4 and 5 door models got a 1.8l engine, and the sports models got a 1.6l 150hp 20valve twin cam engine.

The 1.3, main steam 1.6 and 1.8l all made it to most export markets.

How much power they have I unforunatly don't know off the top of my head, but somewhere around 70hp sounds about right for the 1.3l engine.

Re: What BHP has my Corolla got??

Im New Zealand, about 70% of the cars sold here are used Japanese imports.
So we got all the engines listed in used cars.
The 1.3 1.8 and 1.8 were all sold here in new cars.

maybe thats the difference. I'm using the standard book of imports and they are usually pretty darn accurate. My guess is that we're both right and the US only got the 1.6 Sure would have made smog certification easier for them; one engine to test instead of four

Acctualy now i think about it is a G Reg. plate corolla 1990. either way there is a toyota corolla 1.3 12v GL 3 dr hatchback becuz i have one. the reason u only have 1.6's is becuz of ur whole engine size thingy over in america so cars can keep up with the pace.
