Question 240sx quick questions, Help me please

I am looking into purchasing a used 1991 Nissan 240sx from a guy my friend knows. What I wanna know is How reliable are 240sx's? His asking price is pretty low at around $1500-$2000. From what my friend said it's a pretty nice one. No real big engine problems, No dents, no accidents. The only thing is it's got 150,000 miles on it. Would a 240sx with 150k miles on it be worth his asking price? considering the description I just wrote. I would be using this for going to school and and just for cruising. I will probably add some aftermarket parts onto it later on too. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. thanks. It's also a 5speed manual.

id say offer him 1200-1300, 2000 is a bit much for that many mi.

and with that many mi it's probably not a good idea to add any aftermarket parts to it, it would be better to either swap in an sr or another ka engine.

they are very reliable when it comes to the engine.

nissan can suck it at reliability, there are 2 classes of reliability

class A= honda, toyota
class B-nissan, subaru, ,mitsuibishi=== these are the problematics, my car is a problematic, 240=problematic

problematic=do not buy
problematic= the bad guy

u got $? import a 1998 180 from tokyo

Let's say I can get it from him for maybe $1200 and under? How long would this car last me for just daily driving nothing more than 12miles a day (rough estimate)? and would it be a decent buy at $1200 and under? What are the usual things that go wrong with the 91' 240's and what is average running cost to repair the normal problems? This is probably gonna sound like a dumb question but why would it be a bad idea to add aftermarket parts (i.e. catback exhaust, intake, headers...)?

it would be a bad idea becuase it has very high miles, and adding performance parts generally means your going to get on the gas to see what your mods have done to improve performance, and in turn break something because the engine is old. get it for 1200, buy an sr20det red top for 1500-2000 + 2-3 for performance parts for the SR20DET and other crap, then 1-2k for wheels/tires and you'll have yoruself a very nice car for under 10k ...

you forgot

class C - mazda

Nissans can be quite reliable even with high mileage...just need to treat it right as it cant be beaten to shit like a honda and keep running. Even a Mazda can be reliable, but they just need to taken care of. How many old Subaru Rabbits (I theyre rabbits...) do you see on the road that are still driving alright? Quite a few...they aren't in mint condition, but I see a lot of Subarus, S13s, sentras, and other cars that are on your supposedly unreliable list.

Come on I'm used to GM quality...I know problematic

I say don't buy it, but tell me where he lives and how I can get ahold of him, and I will buy it! thats like exactly what I want, good shape, highmileage, then I can get a new KA with only like 800 bucks, oh yes, the plan is all ready for action!! and I just got a job this week so I'll be saving up and be ready to buy! but I could always sell my car for 1500 then buy a 240 till I got money to fix it up, so if you don't buy it tell me where he lives
