2000 Sunfire --> engine keeps cutting out

Hi there all ... I've been doing a bit of research to help out a few friends that just got married and Pregnant now too so I feel shitty that their dealer (a.k.a. stealer) is screwing them around on their shitty 2000 Pontiac Sunfire.
Basicly what happens is you can drive it around for a while, ... no specific amount of time ... and it will just die. Sometimes it will sputter a bit, and not quite die, but power drops drasticly for 1 or 2 seconds ...
not off the line, or at any particular speed, but general city driving have been the conditions that I've been seeing this happen in.

The car will stall, ... so I shift it into neutral, and then it seems to start OK that time ...
but then again, a little while later, same thing, stall, neutral, start, go ...

I borrowed the car for about 5km and it happened 3 times to me ... in about a half an hour...

I have came across some people who said that a corroded ORANGE wire that runs underneath the radiator from left to right and up to a computer under the fender is to blame, something about a "Circuit 540" or something like that?

any help would be greatly appreciated ...

I know the older Cav's had a problem like this, I belive it was the ignition modual. Next time it happends, go to the fuel rail test valve fitting and give it a poke and see if there is fuel pressure, it could be a fuel pump problem.
