Bought 1995 Aurora

Hi everyone,

I just bought a fixer upper, it is a black 1995 Aurora, the only problem with it is the cooling fans don't come on and the power steering doesn't work. Other than that the car is great, I only paid $1300. I am going to get these probelms fixed then it should run fine. I just want to get your opinion if you think this is a job I can do or should I take it to the shop and how much you think is a fair price, ballpark figure.
I love the car so much this is number 2 Aurora for me (double trouble, LOL). The other one is a 96, I thought I would pick this one up for spare parts if nothing else. Since I replaced the A/C compressor and evaporator in the 96 I thought this may be an easy fix and less expensive. I just couldn't pass up a deal like that, like I said I could use it for parts. The engine and tranny are worth more than what I paid for the whole car.

Re: Bought 1995 Aurora

In most Aurora's the fans don't come on until 250 degrees or so. Unplug the low coolant sensor in the bottom of the reservoir and see if the fans come on and stay on once the engine hits 160 degrees, if they do you're okay. You will have to determine if the p/s pump is good, then go from there.

Cooling fans

It's probably the fan switch, I had one go bad on my Firebird. The wire melted. I just took out the bad one and replaced it with a new one.
