shock question

I believe my shocks have a problem... let me explain:
When my tires hit small ditches in the road, I tend to lose some control. Also, my ride is VERY bouncy, although I am under the impression that the lousy ride may also be because I am using sleeve coilovers, instead of the real thing? In addition, when we pulled out the struts while replacing the axle, when we pushed it all the way down it sprung up VERY slowly... My question is: are these the symptoms for shock replacement time? Also, what shocks should I get... what are my options? I don't want to waste my money, I am looking for quality...

What are you using currently? Stock?
If stock that is you #1 problem, no comment on the sleeves.

KYB does not recommend using their shocks with sleeves, so I would check out Tokico Illuminas or Koni Yellows

If you want quality get a true set of coilovers - H&R!

I currently do have stock shocks... I'm looking to get the smoothest ride available, I'm not looking for control or speed enhancements really... So, I guess my question is: what shocks will give me the smoothest ride that you guys know of?

stock springs & shocks will give you the smoothest ride.

Get rid of the springs & get yourself a good set of springs & shocks

So, right now I'm using the springs that came with my coilovers... you're saying I should go to stock springs and stock shocks (replacement ones)? Will this affect my coilovers at all?

Get rid of the coilovers & go back to stock height/parts for the smoothest ride. Lowered cars have less suspension travel so it will be firm no matter how much money you spend. If set-up right you can almost achieve stock ride quality. I prefer a firm ride(not bouncy), I like to know what my cars doing.

2 choices
springs/shocks
true coilovers
