Exclamation Oil Tac gone crazy

Ok I was on my way to compusa and I got about 10-15 mins away from my house and I was sitting at a red light bored. So I was looking at my oil gauge and i notice that it wasnt in the middle like it normaly is(that being 50/50 right in the middle of the hash marks). it was just a little under. I didnt think anything of it and kept driving. I came to another light. As i was sitting there the tack went from just a little under the halfway hash mark it went and dropped to the one right under it i like less than a second.I also notice that my hot/cold guage was at 50% which never moves it usually like behind the "C"(think my themostat is jacked. So then I was like well if goes down to the next one I might be hosed so I go home and me and my dad were looking and I told him "No dad the dipstick says i am fine on oil" needless to says we check the dipstick and it says i am fine.So I pour about a quart of oil start the car up and the tack dont move.My dad was like I think the thing the sends the oil out is either dead or getting ready to die. That or its a sensor. He tells me to just go on out and do what i have to do (just keep my cell phone handy ). So I look under the car (89 chrysler lebaron) no oil or any thing. So I go down my street come to the light at the end and i am sitting there and my low oil light came on. I am like man what the hell. I look at my H&C guage and thats moving up slightly. So I keep driving and like 4 blocks before bestbuy I get caught at another light. The oil tack just drops to the "L" for low. I am like there is no way i have no oil. So i park in the parking lot where there we no stains on the ground. I pour as much 10w30 (even tho the manual says 5w30). I look for drips none. I go into bestbuy....come out look under car nothing.Start the car nothing...but yet low oil light comes on the tack was at like 25% of the 2nd hash mark. So i start heading home and the whole way there I got caught by every light and about 3/4 of the time the tack would just drop to the "L" I have no clue y its doing this and its causing my themostat tack hot/cold guage to move toward the "h". anyone have any ideas what is wrong with my old ass car other than get a new one.

thanks b

If it was just the oil pressure freaking out, I would say it is the oil pressure sending unit (and maybe it IS...could be your temp fluctuates like that all the time, only you never noticed?). But if the temperature is fluctuating ABNORMALLY also, I would suspect a real oiling problem due to either a clogged oil filter or a failing oil pump. I would change the oil filter and see what it does then. Do not overfill the crankcase with oil---you'll blow out seals and create massive oil leaks.
