Factors when buying a car
Hi I know this was posted a while back but I'd rather have newer up to date replies. I want to know what you all consider important factors when buying a car.

Re: Factors when buying a car
I would say the predominant factor for me is initial cost, but all the other factors you listed play a subsequent roll in narrowing down my decision once I've limited myself on the purchase price.
I'm very concerned about maintenance costs - not just the cost of parts, but also how much of it can I do on my own. Plus I want something with good fuel economy that is still fun at least some of the time. I'm not super concerned about performance - that's what my sportbike is for.

Re: Factors when buying a car
#1 for me: Reliability. I want my vehicle to work when I need it to.
#2 Performance. Not necessarily speed or handling, but how well the vehicle performs the mission you need it for.

Re: Factors when buying a car
I would say initial cost would be determined buy budget. Reliability would be next followed by performance that the buyer preferred.

Re: Factors when buying a car
I actually think they are all highly relevant but the one that does stick out is initial cost... i think that one will almost always be of top priority unless money is absolutely NOT an issue...
