Ferrari 458 Italia

So far, I show to you models I did in the past.
Please, let me show something recent and you can check if I improve my skills. Personal opinion, I improve a little bit, but not as much as I want.
I know I have a lot to learn and, as everybody says, is a lesson on every kit.

This model is the revell version, OOB and just replace the decals for emblems.
Painted with automotive black base and clear cote with flex LPA, also automotive use.
Black paint for me is hard to get the desire finish, is easily to scratch when you are polishing or working with it.

Good kit and fits with no problem....I think is easy to do than fujimi version.

Comments are welcome.

thanks for watching and regards
Miguel

Hi Miguel,
don't bash yourself, your model's not so bad!
Did you prime the body before paining it black?
And how did you sand and polish it?

Not bad at all. You did a good job on it. Try polishing it with a better compound as it should eliminate the scratches. Keep building and your builds should improve drastically.

Thank you

Re: Ferrari 458 Italia

Very nice work!

Was this the Revell kit, or the Fujimi kit.
I have been drooling over the 458, but have a ton of other kits in the stash before I can start buying again.

I also especially like the subtle "weathering" on the seats. Makes it look like real leather.

Good job

In my experience 2000 grid is too strong. I use 1200 or 2000 to remove for example dust particles in the paint or excess putty, but to smoothen the surface before and after painting, I use only 3000 and higher. (Waterproof, sand finished paint only with wet sand paper)
For a black finish, which shows even the smallest scratches, I recommend to use first 3000, then 6000 grid.
After polishing and waxing the surface should be nice and shiny.

Thanks for your comment MN80228.
Answering your question, this is the Revell kit and I think is easier than the fujimi.
For the seats I used oleum dry brush and it creates a very good effect for a leather seats.

Thank you very much Kjenjak for your tip..really aprreciated.
But here in Mexico is hard to find those grids. You need to buy them in a specially modelism store outside, and at that time I didn't have one.

Hi,
Try it on the internet shops. They could send to every country around the world.
And if you sand it with water and Dishwasher detergent, the result is much appreciated.
Well done my friend with a very difficult color in a very wonderful car. The same for the seats!! Bien hecho, sigue asi!!
