Engine Question - Chevy Small Block Build

Need an engine expert for this one. I'm in the process of completing an SBC build. Here are the specs: Chevy 350ci bored .030 over (355). Stock crank and rods (rods were hardened). Aluminum forged pistons (TRW/Speed Pro). Heads are Top Line Pro 220s (iron) 2.02 intake/1.60 exhaust, 72cc chambers. Compression ratio is 12:1. Dual lift springs (1.550 diameter), stainless steel roller rockers (1.5 ratio, 7/16" studs, stud girdles, guide plates). Cam is .630 / .630 with duration of .264 intake/.268 exhaust at 0.050. Solid roller lifters. Carb is a Holley 750 DP and running E85. Full headers. Should complete assembly by end of May. Wondering what kind of HP and torque I could potentially make (naturally aspirated of course) with this build. Thank you.

I wasn't happy with my performance of the stock 305 chevy engine, build to the max

so- I found a 67 Chevy Impala SW with a 400- never been touched
supposed to have 441 heads- it did
stripped the engine down completely
called Summit Racing-
they'd just done a 400 chevy small block rebuild, for maximum hp and torque- HP and TQ crossed at 4,600RPM- 400HP 400Flbs TQ
total hp 435
bored it to .30 oversized, stock rods, but peneed, Summit Racing cam, lifters, intake, 700 Holley Vacuum secondary, headers, custom exhaust after catalic converter- but- we did put cut outs
10:1 compression pistons
my machine shop blueprinted the crank, ballanced the crank, rods, cam, lifts, valves

my 81 Firebird looked stock- Certified Transmission rebuilt and set up my 700 R4 to handle/hold shifts of 635 HP

I hid the 200HP NIOS under the back deck

Mickey Tompson Competitor Radials on the rear at 9psi

GM 400 is an excellent mill. The engine I'm building above is an experiment. Ultimately going to build either an LS1/3 or LQ9 - probably next year. Also experimenting with NOS (TAs have a great place for hiding a bottle). Who knows - you might get your chance to challenge me. I can tell you this much - all the top grudge guys I know are using NOS and beating the crap out of the turbo and/or supercharged cars. NOS is definitely the way go if you know how to "tune it". If you know how to tune it, you're a step ahead of the crowd. If not, my suggestion is you find someone who can.

not really- 400 sb is not as good as a 350 4 bolt main with 400 crank-
NOS beating Super Charged or Turbo Charged- again- not really

I wanted a sleeper- 600+ hp when the hotshot kids laughed at my Firebird

btw- fella I gave the engine/trans to put it in a Nova-

NOS is the cheap mans super charger- get caught with a low bottle- you'll swallow your pride quickly

I would have installed the proper Supercharger, but then- I'd have had a hard time getting the hotshots to drop $20.00-$50.00 on a run-

many wanted a fast car- nobody wanted to pay what it took

Your comment about the 350 makes sense. The engine I'm building now actually is a 4-bolt 350 bored 6 over. I was going to stroke it but don't have the cash right now for the bottom end I would like to use. As far as tuning for NOS, I'm not the expert - just been given some friendly advice by those who are. Basically, you decide on how you want to deliver to your engine (i.e. single stage, dual stage, dual stage plate/fogger, all plate, fogger only, etc. - of course your fuel delivery system comes in to play - carb or EFI) and be very sure your fuel delivery system is "reliable" (good fuel pump). I would definitely not skimp on the solenoids (Induction Solutions) and bottle. Also, a heat blanket is a good investment as opposed to heating your bottle with a torch (torch fatigues the metal). Finally, a good tuner will figure out the best air/fuel ratio (depending I think on your compression ratio), which plugs to use, etc. You're correct that NOS is definitely the poor mans power adder but this "poor man" has seen some incredible runs with NOS powered hot rods. Just came from a grudge event last Sunday and the NOS cars were "killing" the turbos (a lot of the turbo cars were getting lose at the 1/8 mile or spinning at the line). Track was prepped so no excuses. And these guys can drive.
