upper rear shock stud replacement

I have a 1998 grand cherokee that has a upper shock stud broken. I pulled the gas tank and used a grinder to grind off the weld on the inter side of stud to frame. I was thinking that i could then drive the broken stud thru the frame to the inside of frame and replace it with a bolt. It would not drive either way. Is it welded on the shock side a well? Can anyone link me to the replacment stud part? The dealer said they did not have it. I dont know what else to do but drill out the shock stud. Any ideas? Thanks Dave
