94 z28 camaro gone crazy
hello my camaro has been sitting for 7 years and now trying to get her back to running first thing i did was new fuel pump and fired right up had a little miss so i got a new distribtor cap and rotor button put back together and now it want start unless you hold the pedal to the floor and then its flooding want take gas today i put a spark tester on and the spark was red is that normal and all of a suden i looked down at the distribtor and it was acrhing off the cap in to differnt places and it was blue fire thin it quit arching and then started running normal turn it off and start back perfect ran smooth no misses thin 30 min later right back to not starting unless you hold pedal to the floor could that be the optispark should the fire be blue not red thanks for any help

You have the series I, non vented Opti-spark, right. If you look at the distributor and saw arching from the cap area you have either a bad cap, or its not installed correctly. Also be careful and inspect the water pump weep hole. Make sure that the distributor isn't getting coolant on it, this will kill the opti-spark and cause all sorts of problems. Also make sure everything is hooked up ie. vac. lines, MAF sensor and air tubes are sealed to the air meter body. It will run rich and bad if the ECM isn't getting a valid signal from teh MAF.
