2003 6.0L oil pressure
I have seen some other people post about oil pressure issues so I thought I would share my experiance.
I have a 2003 1500HD with the 6.0L engine. The oil preasure gauge was reading low erraticly. 25lbs then drop to less than 10. Changed the sending unit, no help, put on a mechanical gauge and verified the preasure readings. Pulled off the oil pan and changed the oil pickup O ring gasket, (looked like someone had replaced it in the passed). Put oil pan back on and check it, still doing it. Disassembled to check oil pump and found the front main crank bearing had spun. Installing a new motor now. Motor had only 110K miles on it and I have had the truck let than a year. |

spun bearing is usually high rpm with hot/little or no oil in the engine. DO YOU , OR DOES SOMEONE ELSE CHANGE YOUR OIL ???? not many have posted spun bearings with this engine. |

Re: 2003 6.0L oil pressure
Motor belonged to a mechanic before I had it so I would have thought the oil changes were regular. When I purchased it a year ago I replaced the oil with Amsoil oil and filter. Had about 4K miles on the oil when it failed.

the work you did with using amsoil is no problem. good product. the condition of the oil you drained out when you did the first oil change and the filter used what was that type/condition .... |
