I have an 02 Grand Prix 3.8 (non SC). I am trying to remove the oil pan and I'm evidently not getting the engine jacked up correctly. Can this be done from below or will I definitely have to have a way to lift it. Also, I'm thinking of the two topside motor mounts, and the one below on the passenger side that's blocking the oil pan.
I Took the nuts off the lower engine mount on the p-side, and placed jack stand under bell housing to push the engine up when I let the body back down. However, I don't think everything is disconnected as the engine doesn't seem to rise very much. Are these all of the mounts and will I need to disconnect all of them? Thanks for your help. Re: 02 GP 3.8 oil pan removal
Have to review my paper manual set - I recall reading about this before as I anticipate doing this someday due to corrosion - think there's a lower engine mount, a lower transmission mount, and the torque reaction mounts (the dogbones) that go to the upper radiator support.
At the time when I reviewed it didnt sound like a fun job...

Re: 02 GP 3.8 oil pan removal
With the front of the car jacked up, slowly lower the cradle on the passenger side with a jack to get clearance for the pan....
