"96" ga se exhaust leak

Hello. I have replaced the stolen cat. converter on my daughter's "96" GA SE, 3.1 V6. A Magnaflow #23406 Direct Fit system was installed between the exhaust manifold and the resonator flange. Fitment was great. The problem lies in that the Magnaflow has a flat flange where the flange goes to the exhaust manifold instead of the spring loaded pivoting flange used by the factory. Magnaflow uses a heavy duty braided pipe affair to allow for the movement of the transverse engine. Where this flat flange meets the exhaust manifold there is a mild exhaust leak. The stock gasket is tapered and is not sealing as good as it should. Has anyone come across this problem before? Is there a flat gasket that will work? I am open for suggestions.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Re: "96" ga se exhaust leak

I haven't had this issue but try doubling the gasket. This will give you greater thickness and should help seal the leak.
