08 Impala rear door locks not working

Just spent a few hours diagnosing an 08 Impala:

Both Rear door locks not working by switch or FOB.

Verified with GM dealership mechanic and parts dept. that they have a track record for defective latch/ actuator assemblies. (GM list at 176 LH, and 159 RH)

After verifying power to the actuators inside the doors, I listened with a stethoscope a very slight actuator noise from each of the rear door latch assemblies. In hind sight, this would have saved me alot of time.

I'm thinking about trying to piggyback aftermarket actuators ($8 each). (tan & gray wires power the actuator)

Re: 08 Impala rear door locks not working

I have a 2008 Impala and have had to replace both rear lock actuators for the same reason. Now my front passenger one is acting the same way and needs replaced. Does anybody know if Chevy will participate in replacement of these due to the the failure quanity? I have bought both replacements online for about $125.00. Takes about 45 minutes to install.

As of yet, I have not heard of any "special policy" regarding the door locks. Your right though, I've replaced lots of these, you'd think they (gm) would do something.

try gm parts direct, I have a 2003 that I replaced an actuator, actually turned out to be an open in the wire from the BCM to the actuator...did not need the actuator after all...anyway the actuator at NAPA was$120, GM wanted $140 , gm parts direct it was $40 and it was AC/DELCO.

Both rear, at the same time? If yes, make sure the lockout switch is not depressed on the driver's master switch....
