Possible bad strut? Grinding noise while turning.
I have a 1993 Buick Lesabre with around 156,000 miles.
Now, my struts bounce, so I know that part is shot, but when turning I get this mild grinding noise. It sounds like two pieces of rubber up against each other. It started a little while ago, and now when I turn all the way to the right, I get a loud clunk. I do not feel it in the steering wheel though. I can hear it throughout. The grind comes from the passenger side, and not the clunk does too. I get some of the noise turning to the left, but no clunk. I keep the joints greased and two days ago I jacket up my car and checked the tie rods and ball joints via the wiggle test (where you move the tire). It is not the sway bar, for that had been replaced and is still in good shape. Any ideas? |

Re: Possible bad strut? Grinding noise while turning.
Thank you for your input. I am rechecking the joints tomorrow, just to be sure. I will keep you (and anyone else) posted on what happens.
I am thinking the binding on that top is grinding, sticking, then releasing, because you start to feel ball joints or tie rods go, and when hearing something, you feel it in the steering wheel. I almost wish it was a ball joint, cheaper part. |
