Viscous coupling
Question? Is it possable that the viscous coupling can just spin or slip while in reverse? Or is a solid shaft?

Re: Viscous coupling
the VC turns as the output shaft of the transfer case turns. It contains a silicone fluid sealed within the unit that allows slippage/varying speeds of the front and rear driveshafts. If one fails, it 99% of the time will not leak because it's a sealed unit; it will lock & bind as the vehicle heats up. Good luck trying to get one from the dealer, it costs $1100 and is on backorder.
