Need to pass emmisions? Check this out

Quote:
Finally, a week ago when I took my car in for emissions tests, the SFC-VTEC again proved itself useful. Leaning out my car to 5% lean, and taking up the VTEC point to 7000 rpm so that VTEC will not avtivate. Verdict - The car's emissions was even cleaner than that of the stock 1.5L, 8 valve engine. If course, I passed.
i found this on the hybrid forum, and i know how you guys always bitch about your emissions. Try it, if it doesnt work you still have a Vtec controller.

It is the apexi V-AFC, It retails for around $450 shipped and it is probably the best investment you can buy if you want real control (short of the new AEM computer)

Dont know about the vtec controller but I know how cali emissions are a pain in the asss for hybrids. Well I talked to a mechanic that imports jdm itr's to america (front cut ones and sometimes full car) and he tells me that several of his friends' cars are hybrids and legal. The reason is that they got a P.O. box in Nevada and register their car under that address and thus avoid having to get your car smog. I never tried this myself, but it seem like a decent idea for something with a older engine on a newer car and etc.

well......most smog testing facilities probably wouldn't notice the extra wires......i'm not too sure what it looks like w/ the vtec controller....but the actual controller can probably hidden somewhere......just hope you don't get a honda guy to do your smog and shit......but i like that idea.....haha.....

and for 91 teg / 99ex......don't you have to register you car in the state you currently reside in?.....i think you can get a temporary registration if you're visiting.....i'm not too sure on this.....

i forgot.......wat about a hondata ecu???....if you have a laptop w/ the software.....you can adjust your vtec engagement point too.....and they probably will not notice it.....actually.....i'm positive they wouldn't notice it.....the stage 2 hondata is pretty cheap too......400 bucks.....you can set vtec engagement points, disengage rpm and speed limiters, shift light, and it's tunable.......but not as easily as vtec controllers like apex....oh well......

can someone tell me how to lean out the AF ratio with a V-AFC.. my friend has his... and belive me he knows his shit about cars... but for the life of him he cant figure out how to program that aspect of the V-AFC.... and it dosnt help that he lost the damned manual. so if you could let me know how to get this thing up and running it would be great cause we are rollin on expired tags for like months now. oh yeah.... and we are in Portland OR so its not like we have the extream emission standards as cali.

THANX

Chris
