91' 3.1 liter question
The timing chain broke on my 91 3.1liter engine. I replaced the chain, but it dosen't want to run right. Are there piston to valve issues with this engine if the timing chain breaks?
Mitchell repair says you can align the timing marks with either the #1 or the #4 cylinder. I used #4 because it was the easiest to get at. Camshaft dot is at 6 o'clock and crank is at 12 o'clock. It pops a little then runs, but I have to keep the gas down in order to keep it running. I aligned this twice same effect. Should I have used the #1? Is there anything I am missing? Thanks, Joe |
