Anyone know how to remove thermostat from housing????
I'm trying to flush my antifreeze. The Haynes manual describes the typical procedure of removing the thermostat to flush the system.
But the thermostat and housing appears to be one unit. Any idea if/how the thermostat can be removed???? Thanks |

Bungee, The thermostat and housing are one unit. I don't think it can be disassembled.

Re: Anyone know how to remove thermostat from housing????
I like flushing the system out myself and had also heard the same about the thermostat housing. I'm going to look into using another water neck from an earlier year motor.......one with a removable thermostat........ just to do the flushing. There should be one that matches up with my 5.3. I wonder if I might be able to leave it in permamently if I could get a proper fitting thermostat??
