No real problems to speak of
I have heard complaints about the steering but nothing specific so ask around. Off road they are perhaps the most capable vehicle in stock form that I can think of. With the TRD package they are absolutely amazing!!!!
I have a 4Runner and an '03 Double Cab w/ TRD and 4X4

Agreed, from all the literature I've read and my experience with my own 2002 Tacoma Double Cab, they are probably the best out of the box. My only complaint is that the ABS isn't nearly as smooth as I'd expect from Toyota and the stock brakes fade after a few hard stops.
