The Modell was build oob.
Only the base Colour is not the right... it should be "insignia white" from Tamiya, i used "white"

Re: DTM CLK "Orginal Teile"

I have the AS-12, and it looks almost the same color as Tamiya white primer.

I think you did a great job. I know these all over decal jobs are not easy.

Re: DTM CLK "Orginal Teile"

Very nice work. The only thing I dislike is the windowtrim - could be a little cleaner. Once you finished this oneyou will be never ever again afraid of massive decaljobs. Congratulations on a nice display model for your vitrine.

Re: DTM CLK "Orginal Teile"

Great looking DTM Mercedes.
I also have this kit in my collection and I was wondering:

Did you have problems with the decals or is it just a matter of patience
and reading the instructions well!

Did you use any decalsoftener like Microsel, I'm sure you did.
But witch brand did you use?

Regards
from Belgium

Indeed patience is the key to a succesful decal job and this one in particular. But the decal quality is great. Only problems I had with mine concerned the ones around thr front head lights. Tamiya gives you plenty excess on these as well so you can work freely.

Yes, you will need decalsoftener, because the decals will be applied around round bends and sharp edges. I used Microsol on my CLK. Make sure to use the hair dryer technique to have the decals dry faster. This ensures that the decals snuggle down onto the body - especially in the combination with the decal softener.

Regarding the paint. I used the insignia white. Itīs darker than pure white (almost greyish). It gives the model a different appeal and is more realistic.
