VW New Beetle

As I wanted to start a new small project and also build a VW again, I picked up this kit out of my pile.

It's a Revell New Beetle. It's a simple kit with no detail at all

It will be slammed to the ground so a set of big chrome wheels are a must have.

I found some nice Aoshima wheels, which also looks like the Audi A8 wheels you see on many VW's these days.

I will paint is Bright Gold cause it needs a good color.

Meanwhile I already cleaned the bumpers and some other parts of the body. The frontbumper will also be modified a bit.

Kris.

Re: VW New Beetle

Good eye with the A8 wheel look-a-likes, they should set this off nicely.

Re: VW New Beetle

Last days I spent my time to clean the whole body.

First I cutted out the frontgrille out of the bumper. I made a new one and this big hole will be filled with metal axles.

I also used some putty to remove the fuelcap, licenceplate hole, and indicatorlight holes. I also removed the badges and 3th brakelight.

The panellines are also scribed out.

Now it was time for some primer. I did two layers because after the first one I saw some minor mistakes from some putty.

Today I painted the body. After 4 layers it was enough.

Tonight I will add some pinstripe decals on the thrunk and hood.

Kris.

Re: VW New Beetle

Wauw Ice, You really seem to have a neck for the rim and color choice.
Looks real good.

A picture with rims and colored body would be great

Re: VW New Beetle

So, I added a nice pinstripe decal on the hood, and yesterday I clearcoated the body.

First 3 layers Pearl Clear and than 2 layers normal Clear.

Another gorgeous project on the way

From which kit did you get the pinstripping from?

It's from the Revell Chevy Pick Up Truck, from the latest Truck series.

Yesterday I painted the interiorparts with Vallejo Sand Yellow. I think this suits the gold paint

I also masked the windows and painted the windowtrims black.

Tomorrow I'm going to focus me on the interior. I think it will have a black carpet and some other black details.

The interior's looking promising, and the windows came out extremely well! I can't wait for the next update.

Re: VW New Beetle

Today I finished the interior.

First added some black interiorflocking on the doorpanels, behind the rearseats and on the floor.

I also painted the details on the dashboard and doorpanels ass well. After all the interior got some usuall interiorjunk like magazines, cd and a Nokia pe telephone on the dashboard.

Hopefully I can polish the body this week.

Kris.
