Shaking bottled paints

Hey everyone,

Is it safe to shake Testors enamel bottled paints? I think I read somewhere that you are not supposed shake Tamiya acrylic bottled paints.

I usually shake the Testors bottle vigorously to mix it up, is it safe to do that? Should I stir it instead? But since the pigments are settled to the bottom of the bottle, I don't even know if stirring is enough to evenly mix it.

Also, how do you guys prevent the paint from drying up at the tip of the bottle? Every time I open the cap, after struggling with it for 2 minutes, dried paint particles would fall down.

Thank you for your help

I stir them then i shake um.
If you shake the tamiya paint you will get air bubbles suspended in the paint, a minor annoyance at most.
To keep the paint off the caps you need to wipe the paint off the top of the bottle before you put the cap back on. I keep a paper towel handy for that. If the paint is dried you can use a bit of thinner on the towel.

As long as you are not shaking the bottles so hard that the glass is breaking, it is perfectly fine to shake acrylics and enamels.
