Filling Gas

Here's a good one for y'all.

When I go to fill up the gas it takes me like 10 minutes to do. The gas starts coming up the filler like 20$ worth before it's full so for 20$ worth of gas I have to push nozzle then it clicks, over and over and over again... drives me crazy.

Anyone had this problem or knows what would cause it?

Try looking at these threads for more info:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=881079

Sounds like an issue with the gas station 9 (does the problem happen at only one station or all stations?) Or the EVAP system may not be working properly.

Re: Filling Gas

It's at any gas station, mind you that some are worst if their pressure is higher but the same occurrs regardless of the location. I do actually just place the nozzle in enough to not make a mess which appears to help slightly but not enough to mention really.

Re: Filling Gas

Oh and what's this "flap" that they talk about in the other threads? Is it the flap that covers the filler hole when you first open the cap? Doesn't that get pushed behind the nozzle when inserted?

this is usually a hose that is restricted/kinked up on the fill pipe coming out the side of... it..

was this gas tank or vehicle worked on recently????accident....or are you a new owner...??

Re: Filling Gas

It's been that way since we bought it about 5 yrs ago. Nothing done to it since we've owned it but maybe before. Where should I look for kinks or other?

right on the fill pipe along the side of the pipe should be a 3/8 hose...this allows the gas vapors to reenter the gas tank that way it will not blow back out where the gas nozzle hole is ... it should be 2inches below the gas tank fill /cap area...make sure its not restricted...disssconnect and blow into it if necessary....

Re: Filling Gas

Thanks, I will take a look at that. I would love to be able to fix it that easily...
