1:24 70 Challenger WIP kinda sorta
If that doesn't make you point and get all fuzzy inside like a little kid at his first car show then i don't know what will. Challengers are my personal love and of course we all lust for things we can't have ... you know, unless i had lots o' cash to burn. AAAAANYWAY. I got inspired by the TV show Drive ... many of you probably missed it because it lasted all of 3 or 4 episodes and was quickly canceled after that. It wasn't a bad show though but it was on Fox. *crickets chirping* It's the show where everyone referred to it as the 73 when in fact the car in the show was a 70. The car in the show had an RT hood and stripe ... black car, blue stripes with big Bullitts and God it was sexy, even though the 70 RT stripe is my least fav. Well because no one makes an RT hood and I don't much care for that stripe I went with a TA appearance. The spoiler is wrong but I think I like them both equally and in real life this would likely be a clone. I would try to keep the car with TA racing function in mind and maybe even the 340, just hopped up a little with modern suspension and all that jazz. I planned for chrome bumpers but couldn't get it done and so they are off right now getting paint ... black. It will get the side exhaust as well. I hand masked the stripe based on the body lines and A: i'm not cool enough to do a pin stripe and B: I like it w/o the pin stripe so there ya go. Give me a couple days and the car will be complete. Oh, I've changed the stance some since this pic. Wait, there's more. I went and got me a Viper kit (before paying enough attention to find out it is 1:25th) and so you see its brakes and seats on this Challenger.

But to each his own. I can understand the appeal either way. And I really like how you terminated the hockey stripe in line with the c-pillar, that's a really neat look! |

Re: 1:24 70 Challenger WIP kinda sorta
On the subject of Pony vs Musclecar...
I like to think of it as small block and big block, in that case. Pony Cars as a class were "created" to compete in the Trans-Am series. They are, by nature, road racers. They're small, near-compact 2 door coupes with a functional back seat, a V8 and RWD, designed for a BALANCE of handling and straightline performance. As a result, your 64-73 Mustang with a smallblock is a pony car, as is a 69+ Camaro and Firebird, as is a 64+ 'Cuda or Valiant, as well as the 67-69 Cougar, and I suppose a Javelin as well. And the Challenger T/A and AAR 'Cuda. But when you put bigblock in any of these cars, the whole package really changes to a drag car. Ever driven a big block Camaro? I've never driven a COPO or a ZL1, but I have driven an SS396, and it handled like GARBAGE compared to a Z/28. That to me is the distinction. I'd call those musclecars. Just my |

Studio-VS, thanks a lot, glad to hear ya like it.
Jabel, they are Pegasus - I think they call them chrome Ts. These are the larger version cause MOPARS had those big ole wheel openings.
