VR6 GTI or Prelude Vtec?

Ok, im going to be getting a new car in like 2-3 months. I've gotten it down to two cars, either a 94-99(i think those are the years for the mk3 vr6) VR6 Gti or Prelude Vtect 92-96 model. But I can't decide which one I want, and I don't want it to come down to whichever I find first. I drove a 2000 gti vr6 and i liked it a lot but i've never driven or been in a 92-96 prelude. Both motors put almost the same horsepower to the weels i believe, maybe a bit more for the vr6 but not much, and both have decent tourqe. Help me decide!

the vw is pretty quick off the line. more torque than the prelude and they're not that heavy either. my only gripes about the vw is the gearbox and it handling. as far as the gearbox, the throws are really long and it's very loose-feeling. and the VW doesn't handle nearly as well as the prelude will, making the prelude more fun to drive, IMO. i do give the the vw high points for the typical solid european feel to it, where the prelude just "feels" more flimsy.

never been a huge fan of vw, but i do like the gti vr6's. tough choice. between a 4th gen lude and the gti, i think i'd get the gti.

best thing to do is to find a prelude vtec and then you'll have driven both so you can make a decision on your own. don't let us tell you to choose the prelude over the vw if you haven't driven a prelude before. we're obviously biased being prelude owners.

If you do want a VTEC lude, I think you'll save money if you buy a base model with 240 million miles on it, and swap a jap h22 into it.

You wont find a VTEC lude with AWS unless a swap has been done. That only came on the SI model. I have it, and it really does nothing for handling except making those hairpins more managable, and causes a lack of choice for suspension mods in the rear. Plus, if you live near freeways like mine with the bumpies from the compression brakes on big trucks, your ass end will skirt all over the place. 4WS tracks quite a bit in the grooves also. It does however, make a good conversation piece.

As far as the VW.. I haven't been a big fan of them.. especially since my friend's fuel pump went out in the middle of an intersection in her 2002 Jetta.

Hondas are reliable.
