Question Newbie with a few questions

I was in a hobby shop before Christmas and a model kit of my car caught my eye. Since I haven't put together a model in about 20 years, I thought what the hell and picked it up.

Generally, I did well, but of course I f-ed up the only parts people see: the windshield and the body. So I have a couple questions for you guys:

- I got glue on the windshield. Is there any substance on earth that will remove it? (regular old model superglue)

- I sprayed the body with a Testor's gloss black spray. For some reason, the paint never completely dried. When I went to do a second coat and hit the underside, the paint did not go on smoothly - sort of an orange peel, I guess. I stripped it off and started over, but when I was holding the car days after I sprayed it, I left permanent fingerprints on it. Any thoughts on how I can fix this and paint it correctly? (It's now assembled, so it will have to be with a brush, unless I take it apart).

Thanks for any suggestions

Re: Newbie with a few questions

First off, make sure you read the FAQ's. There are alot of great tips and how to's from some really incredible builders here. There may even be a tip on how to fix your windshield, and there is a thread on how to polish out orange peel on a paint job. Some paints need along time to cure before you can handle them. Tamiya sprays are usually safe in 24 hrs. Testors I wouldnt touch for a week atleast. Also, did you use primer under the paint? And before you go buy alot of supplies to fix your windshield check your instruction sheet to see if there is a customer service email or phone number and try contacting the manufacturer about a replacement window. It may be cheaper, pending on the kit, to just buy another one and chalk this one up to experience. I doubt there isnt anyone here who hasnt bought a second kit because we F'd something up. Good luck.
