Anyone got an idea on why the engine might be running hotter than usual? The temp gauge goes slightly below the beginning of the red zone. I haven't changed out the thermostat. Any ideas on what to do to bring engine temp back to a more nomal range? It over heated last summer because the water pump went out. Maybe running higher octane gas? I tried going with supreme gas on long road trips on my old Toyota Celica and it helped some, but I never got to the bottom of how to get an engine to run cooler.
Thanks for any help you all can share. Chuck

if its not freezing, i would take out the thermastat, and if needed., get a new thermostat housing. thats what i did.
also, sometimes, thoes thermostats get old and stick. they dont release like they are made to do at a certain temp. if it gets cold, put the thermostat back in so water/coolatnt will not be flowing through your engine all the time. also your water pump may be going out. wiggle the pully on the pump and se if it moves back and forth. if so, that might be it. |
