I have a D16A9 and have recently had a second hand gearbox put in, I do drive my car hard but it is starting to whine already.

is this common on these engines and gearboxes

and I am thinking of changin my car to v-tec does anyone know what it would envolve and how much it would cost approx

Did you replace the throwout bearing on the mainshaft of the gearbox?

i had the same problem. I broke the gearbox and replaced it with the same one.

Now i just shift slower than before, it's the only way to keep it ok i guess.

I would never put motor oil in a transmission. I always put in something a little heavier like a 90w gear oil, i would say to change that and than see if you still get the whine.

It whines when your just accelorating a little bit and its like a whiring in first and second, (the same as the old gearbox), I don't know wot oil they put in it but I would have thought it would be the right stuff coz the garage is pretty good usually.
