Question help on Tamiya Subaru WRX 98 WRC

guys, I need your help. The cap at the roof which I highlighted, the manual said it should be painted in white. I am wondering after i put primer on the WRX, then what I should do?

procedure #1: paint the mica blue, put all the sticker, then put the white color on the cap, then put clear coat?

procedure #2: use tapes to cover the cap, then paint the mica blue, put all the sticker, remove the tapes, then put the white color on the cap, then put clear coat?

thanks for the help

For such small detail it is best to handpaint them after paint and decals.

so I should paint white on the clear coat, or before the clear coat on blue color, or on the primer?

I usually cut stuff off like that and scratchbuild one later and paint it separetely. Things sticking out like that interfere with polishing of the paint also.

woh, I haven't thought of that. Thanks 935k3, so I should use a sharp cutter to cut it out and then use putty to fix the bottom of the cap and then glue it on after all the clearcoat and polishing?

If you are going to glue the cap on the clear coat, isnt cement going to destroy a clear coat just like the paint?

That totally depends on the glue you use.....I use white glue or clear parts glue which is water based and it doesn't harm the paint finish then, when I glue the final parts on.

Another idea,

sand the original antenna off the roof, drill a hole where it used to be, paint the body, and put on an aftermarket gps antenna. (somewhat in that order)

thanks for your info, Marco_Wrc.

I am wondering is there any good website or WRC website having the top view of the WRX WRC1998/1999 version ? (i.e. I saw the links on some thread before, but lazy to find it)

Thanks and appreciated.
