www.modernmodels.com?

I just found this site and was interested in a few of the models they have. My question is has anyone here delt with them in the past? If so, are the shipping times aceptable??

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

The shop doesn't charter shipping crews themselves y'know.
The times depend on the postal service between the UK and wherever you are and has next to nothing to do with the shop.

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

Sure DM, but if it takes them 3 weeks to pack it and drop it off at the post office every time, that IS up to them.

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

then he is asking the wrong question.

I haven't bought from them but their site says that they "update daily".
Just a little supposition on my part but that suggests that they at least update stock details on a daily basis.
Make of that what you will regarding their practice.

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

so what would be the right question?
So I don't make the same mistake myself in the future.

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

As you infered to, the appropriate question would be regarding their practice and their service. The general question would be about typical times to get things from here (UK) where-ever he is. The way some postal services work, even if they get it to the post office on the day of the order, it won't leave the depot until a week later.
As I said, the actual shipping times is not something that they have direct control over.

It would equate to asking if British Airways flights are free from turbulance.

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

wow, you guys make things so difficult.

as for the model company, I haven't used them, but if you feel like taking a bit of a risk, just order something cheap, have it shipped, see how long it takes, then make a conclusion.

I'm more concerned if this place is a fraud. They don't work via paypal, or give you shipping costs before ordering. It's kinda like "Hey give me your credit card # and we'll just add whatever we think is right to it." So, basically if they were 'da bad guys', they'd be able to charge whatever they wanted onto my card. That's the main reason of this thread, to see if anyone here had delt with them.
DM: I can understand crappy PO services, it happens all over the world. All I am asking is if I will have to wait over 3 or 4 months (or even more as I've seen from other companies) for it. I mean if Hiroboy can get a package to me within 10 days, wouldn't it be assumed that over a month is unacceptable? I would assume that my question basically said : "Do these guys take forever to ship?"

Wow! I must have paranormal powers - I managed to guess what cyberkid meant

Steve - out of interest, I looked over that site and if I were you, I'd be inclined to give it a miss (unless you really can't get what you are looking for elsewhere).

My read on the situation (assuming that the shop is on the level) is that it's a small, home run operation that operates when the owner gets home from work - no email questions, phone calls only in the evenings, no personal callers because stock is held off site.....here's the Google map link to the site and it looks like a private house to me.

My

(Hope you understand what I mean...)

This isn't far different to what HLJ do anyhow.

I completely understand what you mean, but the main model I'm interested in is a golf V5... and haven't been able to find one that's reasonably priced.
As for his place... did you ever check up on Hiroboy's add? Click me Looks like its in the middle of the road ... but his stilll produces awesome stuff.

I know, but HLJ has a good rep. So, I feel okay when giving them that info.

On this topic... if I get f*cked and the guy messes with my Credit Card.. is there anyway to get my money/credit back? I've heard of a lot of cases where the bank only pays part of the loss.

oh no, i understood what he meant.
I just didn't like it that he implied that the time it takes to ship something across oceans is down to the shop.
It's a small thing but it is still erroneous.
As he goes on later, his real concern is whether or not they are reliable.

For the record; lots of internet based stores work like that.
Office from home; stock elsewhere.
It's how they manage to keep prices competitive.

No? Really?

I just didn't like it that you implied that was all that was semantically included in his post. It's a small thing but it is still erroneous.

DM:
Thank you for giving me a lesson to shut my mouth.
I may not have perfect english, but I seem to be able to communicate and teach in the language.
I just asked for some info, and I got yelled at due to 'erroneous'.

Could a mod please delete this thread? I'm sick of looking in here just to see more corrections of my grammer or wordings.

To those of you who are interested, I have found another source for the models I wanted. Thanks for those who gave advice.
Out,
Steve

Re: www.modernmodels.com?

i) as you say, your real concern was reliability

ii) you mentioned nothing about this in the original question

iii) you asked about shipping times

iv) shipping times have nothing to do with the shop

I have a thing about being simple and to the point. It makes things easier to answer in the future.
Your original question has not a lot to do with what you really wanted to know and for the record, I am not yelling or anything of the sort. If you want to see it like, then fine.
