Water on passenger side floorboard and other problems HELP!!!!

I have a 2000 LEMON OF AN ALERO. Today it has been raining all day. Yesterday my car was perfectly clean and dry inside. We stopped at the grocery store ran in for about ten to fifteen minutes. When we came to the car my wife noticed a puddle of water all over the floorboard. It was almost an inch deep. She Left the window open a crack but the window deflectors would of stopped most of the rain, if not all, from coming in...especially not that much rain. I felt around the whole carpet and the front area up on the firewall was dry, the only part wet was the bottom where her feet go.
On top of this my blower motor only works on the two highest settings. PLUS,
when I try to start the car the first attempt the car will turn over but nothing will happen...no start, no gauge movement. Have to turn off and try to start again and car usually starts the second time.

IF anyone has any insight on these problems please inform me of the answers in fixing it or is that just the way this piece of lemon is.

In conclusion, the airbag light was staying on continuously for the longest time, since I bought the car three weeks ago, and today it finally went out.

Re: Water on passenger side floorboard and other problems HELP!!!!

I had the same issues you did with my 2000. I notice water under my passenger seat floor, but couldn't figure out where the heck it was coming in. My blower was also only working on the last two high settings. I discovered the leak point because I was replacing my blower motor resistor and discovered tons of water in the motor housing and found out that it was pouring in from the bottom corner of the front windsheild and down into the cowl and into my car and it went down under the passenger seat. I took off the whole bottom trim and cleaned off all the old adhesive and re sealed the rubber at the base of my windshield and I also took the cowl off and also sealed up some seams in there as well as a precaution.

"General water leak Diagnosis Guide #01-08-57-007a" It's a two part link.

I hope the links help...

I got the blower motor restitor from a junkyard for like $5 and $7 to repair the window seal. I have had no issues since I did the repair.

Yeah these are sone leakers!!
Those are two of MANY TSBs on the leaks N-bodies have.

If your HVAC drain is clogged it'll dump all sorts or water into the pass flloor.
If water gets under the pass seat, it can toast the ABS mod box thats under there.
The HVAC drain is visible from under the hood pass side.
Here is a pic of that...

If you have a sun roof, they are prone to leaks too.

On your blower fan not working on all speeds it is probly the resistor. $25-30 new from napa or stealerships.
I would NOT suggest getting a used one, as the older ones will just blow out then you wasted time and money having to repeat the process.

Here is a link that runs through the replacement procedures.
Blower Motor & Resistor Removal -

On your starting, I'd say the ignition switch is starting to fail or it could be dirty inside.
Might try blowing it out with canned air.

Hope that helps, maken lemonade

Well I took my blower motor and resistor out today and sure enough there was water soaked up on the lower part of the sponge where it curves around the blower motor. Must of been coming in through the blower motor housing. I am now in the process of siliconing all seams under the cowl and the windshield black moulding pieces which are on the sides and bottom of front window. I hope this works.
In the process of taking the blower motor out, the screws were so rusty from leakage that they just snapped. Now I have screws stuck in the darn plastic. Can't drill them out to small of an area to get the drill in.
Any suggestions on this????

I also noticed that the rear passenger side was wet, not as bad but still wet. Checked all around the door seals...nothing which looked suspicious. Not exactly sure how the rear is getting wet. Checked under the pass. seat and it is perfectly dry. Hmmmmm, weird.

I did check the a/c drain and it is not plugged. Blew through it and it is fine. I checked the pipe which the drain hose connects to and it is fine also so the water can't be coming from the a/c unit.
