Probs installing front "6 1/2 Infinity Referance speakers...

Any one have these speakers and a 6th gen Civic and clearance problems due to the magent size on them? I bought a set of these speakers, both front pair and rear pair (6x9 rear) and tried to install the fronts, but the baffling in the door is too small to acomidate the huge magnets of the Infinity speakers. Would cutting out some of the plastic baffling have any size affects? And how has anyone else gotten aftermarket speakers that had clearance issues, to fit? Thanks.

that's actually a common problem ....... the better speakers often have larger, deeper magnets - and Hondas typically have relatively thin doors. You can try to make a spacing ring to pull them out a little - if the hole is not big enough around, you can cut a little of the trim away too. Just make sure it is sealed from the back when you finish.

i had that problem before, but be carefull. depending on how deep the speakers will sit, you might have a problem. the plastic guard that the speaker sits in is for protection. the window sits right behind it when rolled down. if you cut the baffle and the speaker is too deep it may hit the window.

Easy

Ive got infinity kappa componets (next level up which sound incredible) and all i did was cut out the plastic cup with a jig saw and they fit perfectly. the only problem i found was that honda made it incredibly difficult to get wire into the door because of the elbow they put on the wires that come into the door, not the mention that square thing and all the white stuff. i would have liked to put my crossover inside the car but ill live cause its covered in apoxy. my speakers have a bigger basket and bigger magnet and they fit fine, just cut that up.
