welcome to AF

first: what is a saxo?

second: more info is needed.

what is the make, model, and year of your vehicle.
what is the problem specifically.
how long has it been going on.
did it start suddenly or slowly get worse.
ect...

Re: this is doing me head in

the make is a citroen saxo, 1.4, the model is a vsx, the year 1996 and when it is turned on it will jump and jerk for about 5 minutes if i press the clutch and pump it, it will eventually stop jumping. It will run fine once the engine is hot and runs with no problems, it occurs at the beginning of every journey. It didnt start suddenly however it has been doing since january and is used every day. many thanks for replying

You mean jumping forward, as if you're letting out the clutch but you're not?

That would be a bad clutch master or slave cylinder.

Re: this is doing me head in

if you're talking about the engine reving up and down until it's hot and jerking when you've got the clutch pedal released and the car in gear it could be the intake air control valve. it's nothing serious and doesn't really damage the car. you can replace it pretty easily.
