Hummer H2

During the summerbreak I'll start some new projects.

This is one of them:

I think everybody knows this kit but for the unknown people... It's a Hummer H2 made by Revell (scale 1/25)

A lot of nice parts were included:

I'll choose beside these sets of wheels:

For the pics I made a dryfit from the body

When I use the first set of wheels, the body will be orange with black parts and the spokes of the wheels will be black.

If I use the second set of wheels, the body will be black or light gun metal and the wheels stay in chrome.

I think I'll go for the first option but maybe you can change my mind.

Kris.

Re: Hummer H2

If anything the second option. But,.......as a firm believer in not liking trucks like this (no offense), why not lift it with 44's and a 6" suspension?! Not one of these to my knowledge has been lifted?! Just an idea. Not flaming at all, just saying. opcorn:

I think lifted hummers look a heck of a lot better than slammed ones as well. But thats just me.

Re: Hummer H2

I picked up the first wheels and painted the center in black:"

The body was lightly modified. I cleanded the doorhandles and removed the wiper on the back of the car.

After that I painted it ORANGE

While this was drying I tested Pear Clear over this orange (other manufactor) and this turned out great. So I sprayed some layers of Pear Clear over the Hummer and I really love the result of it. (in the sun it's even nicer)

Here's a dryfit with a couple bodyparts

The interior will be in same colours as the body I think.

Sweet orange paint.
The black and orange go together great.

Re: Hummer H2

Hi!
Nice work!
Just an idea: make that nose black!
It is rare and more aggressive IMO!

Seems to be happening more and more....

I've seen this kit but always passed on it because it looked toy like. Your WIP is making me rethink that. I really like the chrome lip with black spokes. Did you hand paint the black or mask it off?

Yeah sometimes I think you'll only get reactions when you make a japanese driftcar or something like that, but HE there are more kind of cars!

I also thought about this kit that it looks like a toymodel but in real life it looks weird with 26'' wheels I think.

I painted the spokes all with hand in gloss black by Modelmaster (very nice paint!)

I'm going on vacation next week and been busy with some other projects but after holiday I promise I'll make some updates!

Kris.

Re: Hummer H2

After a long time I did some progress on this massive car.

First I searched for bigger brakes because the original brakes are way to small. I found bigger brakes and they fill up the space nicely. I painted the calibers in yellow.

I also finished the chassis.
First I painted it all flat black. Than I painted things like the engine and stuff like that.
All the components for the chassis where painted also.

After that I wheaterd all the parts:

I also painted the exhaust in a metalizer paint and polished it. After that I made heat stains on it.

And put it all together without any problems.

I really like the details of this chassis. It looks like I used many parts and it's very busy under the car if you know what I mean. (full of details)

I'm now working on the interior. I'll use flat orange and yellow and some black details.

Kris.
