Attn: Tamiya Evo V and VI rally car builders

Can anyone help? Basically I'm on the scrounge for decals for the side windows (names and flags) and names for the seats for either Makinen and his co-driver or Loix and his co-driver. What I need these for is the forth-coming Tamiya Evo VII WRC. I plan to do the car as a 2001 San Remo rally version, I already have San Remo rally plates and Studio 27 are releasing a Malboro sponsorship sheet so all I need are the names for the windows, seems a little pointless buying a complete decal sheet just for those.

Any help much appreciated

Steve

Bingo! I just ran upstairs to check and I still got some!
I finished my EVO VI some months ago and kept the extra decal left overs. In fact I used a Renaissance decal sheet which makes that I still have 3 sets with names.

Renaissance: Makinen - 1 part
Tamiya: Makinen - 2 part, flag is seperate
Tamiya: Loix - 2 part, flag is seperate

You choose. Send me your address details and I'll send them to you by regular mail or air mail depending on the location. Don't know where Northants is

Just let me know and I'll be more then happy to give them away

Huudo,
Northants is North Hampshire, which is in England.
Hope that helps you

I got the tamiya lancer v as a gift for my birthday yesterday, and I stared at the box for a while deciding if i should do the 2-tone paint job or all red,but just to make sure, that wrc lancer v,raced sa an all red version too right?I hope so because i might make the body all red,but if i spray the body flat white, mask off the needed areas and spray the bottem flat red,and apply clear over it,will it work?I think this has been asked many times but i wanna make sure Because I'm still a newbie and i wanna make this car very nice

I think there may have been an occasion that the Evo V was raced by Tommi in all red, but I am not certain. The decals supplied with the kit are for the red/white cars of Makinnen and Burns. Note that Burns' car has the additional 'Carisma' decal whereas Makinnen's car does not.
Why would you spray it flat white and flat red? The cars are gloss, and it is not a regular red, it is bright red, Tamiya Color TS-49 and the white is TS-26. If you paint it any other red it will not match the red in the decals correctly.(Note: the red in the instructions is the old code, the one I have given here is the new code, it is the same color)
You will find it a lot easier to use the correct color and should get a good paint job out of Tamiya cans.
As you said, spray the white, then mask and spray the red.
If you want some good photos of the car, go to the Mitsubishi galleries on www.wrc-online.net and then select the rally and the year you are looking for.
Hope this helps you.
Sorry about wandering all over your thread Steve.

No problem about the thread, it's still sort of related anyway. As far as I can remember the Evo V was not actually rallied in the Malboro colours, Mitsubishi got their Malboro sponsorship towards the end of 1998. The Evo V was painted red and displayed the new sponsor but was only used for testing between the end of the '98 season and the start of the '99 season when in Monte-Carlo they used the Evo VI for the first time.

Steve,
You are right as usual
I only found one photo of the EvoV in full red and it was taken on a test session.
For some reason, I prefer the Red/White car anyhow......
Another site with some really good photos of the EvoV is www.rallycars.com

Call me an anorak if you want but I've just had a thought, checked in the 1998 rally yearbook and I'm right once again. The Evo V was rallied in an all red colour scheme when on rally Austrailia the team were sponsored by Winfield cigarettes.

Studio 27 used to make a decal sheet but I think it is out of production, DMC also make a set which still shows on Grand Prix Models website here in the U.K.

You're a great big anorak Steve
Do you come with some matching Wellies though?
The only Rally Australia 1998 photos I can find are these http://mitsubishi.wrc-online.net/def...photoyear=1998
Not the best.....hehe....
But it looks to be a red Winfield car to me too, I never thought of that one either.

Hi Ray,

expect to see another Red/White Marlboro liveried EVO VI to show up here on the forum this weekend! That's when I get my pictures of my Freddy Loix EVO VI from the photoshop. I could get them tomorrow but since I'll be out of town you'll have to be patient till then :finger: and I know it's a Carisma...

Guido,
It is so nice to know there are some enlightened people out there
I am building my EvoV as the Carisma too, so it will be one of the few Richard Burns Lancers you will see, I expect.
I look forward to seeing your photos
