Talking avenger egr probs

i have a 95 dodge avenger 6 cyl checked the codes came up with a code 32 computer didnt see change in air fuel ratio when egr activated check valve vacume lines and egr electrical also a code 13 map sensor or vacume line may not be working the engine starts but it it will not idle hardly at all when i rev it up i can keep it running but it sounds like its chokeing out and has a a real rich exaust smell any one with any tips would be helpful

Sounds like your EGR valve is stuck open. Exhaust gas recirculation is a good thing at cruising speeds, but not at idle. The easiest way to test it to remove the valve, make a blocking plate out of metal or heavy gasket material (using the gasket as a template) and put the EGR valve back on with the blocking plate. Now it can’t work. If that was your problem, the idle will smooth out.

It’s not going to hurt your engine any to drive around with the EGR blocked off, however it may be illegal in your state, it will increase NOx emissions and it will cause the CEL to come on.
