Tamiya GT-R vspecII R34 - A modernized classic.

I know some people wont really like what I've done - especially the purists.
However, being a purist, I use model cars to push out idea's I would never think to do on a real car lol.

Now on to the model car.

I chose a Skyline R34 for this because, well... Its a new age muscle car, it has everything a muscle car needs. Class, speed, head turnability, and looks great just cruising. The last part is where my idea stemmed from.

You guys remember / or have had first hand experiance with muscle cars or the muscle car scene. Two tone paint jobs, low cruisers, little bit of class, lotta bit of fun. This is what I wanted to do with this project, just some pure unadulterated fun lol.

I would like to preface the pictures with: I don't have a lightbox setup yet, and most of the WIP will be using my droid. Finished will be using my SLR lol.

The crap masking tape I used lifted a bit and some of the primer ran which will be fixed with a pinstripe in blue on the paint line.




I also have some super special wheels coming for it to complete the look and maybe something else that's quite random but old school haha.

Yeah off brand painters tape is whats doing I think getting some better quality stuff here soon.

Off brand stuff is fine. Just the method is the problem.. You are spraying to wet on your first few coats. LIGHT MIST COATS to seal the tape, let them flash for about 15 minutes between coats.

In fact, I found a trick to prevent bleed through all together. Lay your tape, then shoot a light coat of the same color as your base coat...just at the tape line. Then do your second color. Supposedly you'll never have crappy paint lines again....I've yet to try this method, but it makes sense.

I have heard about this for years. Good tip, Rsxse.

I like your idea for building this, Super. Looking forward to more.
