starting problems

My sister has an 01 95 and sometimes it just doesnt start. The starter checked out fine and everything, and it doesnt try to turn over. You turn the key and absolutely nothing happens. You get full accessories and power to everything so its not the battery. But if you try to start it a few times and then let it set a few minutes and try again it will start. So i was wondering if any of you have had similar problems and if you guys think its the ignition or maybe theres a starter relay that you know of that could go bad. thans alot

I have the same problem with my 2000 Saab 9-5 and can get no help here. Help!

check the nut on the starter. i guarantee it is a bit loose. should fix both of your cars. i see it all the time here. just disconnect the battery before you do this, i dont want to hear any stories about anybody's 13mm socket being welded to their ratchet!

All of the battery connections to the starter were checked and were clean and tight. Any further suggestions?

if you put the car in drive (if it is an auto, which i am guesing it is) and try to start it, will it? try in neutral and park. if the car will start in any gear besides neutral and park or if after wiggling the shifter, the car starts, you need a new neutral safety switch (known to saab techs as the tranny range switch).
i have seen this a few times. sometimes all you have to do is wiggle the shifter and it starts. seen many cars with no start conditions get towed in and then i jump in the car and it starts right up (after i wiggled the shifter of course). ticks off a lot of people when that happens.

I have a '99 Saab 9-5 and had the very same problem for 7 months before the engine light FINALLY came on and we could have the problem diagnosed. The needed part was the crank shaft position sensor. The dealer told me it would cost around $250 for them to replace it. I searched the web and found the part at www.autopartsgiant.com for $35.55. My dad and my husband installed the part in about an hour. It took some work because the cable snakes around the engine a bit but we've not had any problem with it starting or stalling since.
