A/C evaporator drain
I have a 01 pontiac aztek. Water on the floorboards. I know it is not rain as we have not had much. I am pretty certain it is from the A/C. I have heard of people saying to clean the evaporator drain.
Well, how would I go about doing this? I can probably find it if someone can tell me where it is and what I need to do. So what I need is the location of the evaporator, where the drain is, and how to clean it. Thanks guys, dont you just love things like this! |

Re: A/C evaporator drain
its on the firewall, passengerside area toward the bottom.
Anything like a small wire can be used to clean out the drain. Hard to get to sometimes. Its just a hose that goes inside the evap, with a black gromet visible from the outside.

Re: A/C evaporator drain
Is this inside the cabin or in the engine compartment area? I am thinking it is more inside but I am not sure. I can make a motorcycle fly and do all kinds of engine work and such but dont know too much about a/c systems.

Re: A/C evaporator drain
sorry about that , its under the hood.
though you might not see it from above. If you jack it up to investigate, use jack stands What happens is when its pluged the water/condisation backs up inside and over flows onto the floor.

If the flipper is not on it that may be your problem. They do not drain good on the road without the flipper and some they have to put a extension on drain pipe to keep the road backpressure off of drain. Does it drain sitting still. Or start leaking in the floor after a long drive? There is another post or two on here with the same problem and he found some good info on ac kits.com about it. http://www.autoacforum.com/ MT http://www.autoacforum.com/messagevi...38&STARTPAGE=1 http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...26#post4285826
