Don't shoot me...but...
Thinking about a Charade for first car as well as Rolla Twin Cam.
Pros Most modern, plentiful, EFI, Front discs, A/C, CD, Lowest KMs, Fuel Efficient Cons Unsafe, tinny, 3 cylinders!, Small Keep in mind this would be for under a year. I will have a Honda next year!

You forgot: Deathtrap!
No way would you catch me in one - a 1G Civic is actually safer in a crash. Not to mention most are close to dead, especially the turbo varient. Not pissing on your parade but... no I will... It's a waste of money ![]() OZ - what price bracket are you looking at. Personally, if you only have a few thousand to spare, go get an old-school car like a series 1 RX7 or (my choice) a 240z/260Z. I've seen a few under 4 grand - tough engine, classic sporty look, very reliable. TA/RA23 Celica, Mitsubishi Scorpion, lots of nice choices - hell, even an early rolla although the Celica has a tighter chassis andd is more comfortable. Get one, finish your HSC and then put some cash into an early 90's car. |

Yeah, yeah. Not safe - oh well. Shit happens. All the car you mention - most are not injected (want to avoid carbies), use shitloads of fuel or are extremely old (expensive to repair, questionable condition etc.)
As for HSC - did my first English trial today - Paper 1. Pretty happy. Studied right things, timed well, answered well. Science tomorrow and Paper 2 Wed.

Did a nice long reply and the stoopid forums crashed.. again.
Anyway - carbs = win. Nothing wrong with them Fuel economy on a 2TG 1600 or Astron 2000 is damn good - better around town than the SiR or Si. Spot on with the GL Civic. On the freeway it's comperable. The Astron ran better than the B16A in economy and the 2TG was the same. 100 - 120 bhp SOHC engines. The L series in the Z is about 10l/100km with triple webbers on (non factory). I found that out with my GT 240K which carries the same motor. ![]() Cars are usually in good nick if you buy right - in fact I've seen better condition 70s cars than 90s. A Charade is a POS that will die - moreso because it's a wimpy 3cyl that was designed to be tossed when it died. Sorry, for a car that you are going to buy for a year, I'd go almost anything over a charade (and even an 80's roller which are a POS unless you get the twin-cam). ![]() You asked ![]() Quote:

I'm now thinking about the RX7 you mention, Pete. Except for the running rich and being a rotary thing, I'm quite tempted. Tell me more...
And the carbie thing, I just don't like them. Had bad ecperiences starting them on a winter morn' at the snow (and at home for that matter) and EFI gives better performance and economy.
