Question chevy bertta

hi needs some help on a car i am thinking about buying. it is a 1991 chevy bertta with a 2.3 the car has a bad head or a head gasket. but i was told the the head is plastic and it is overheating if it is not that what could it be and should i buy the car. it has 75000 miles on it. thanks for any help oldsgal442

Its not worth much especially with a blown head gasket. The head is not plastic, its aluminum. I would advise against it. Head problems were very common with those quads. They had insufficient head clamping and warped/cracked heads were common. At the very least you would need a new head (not a remanufactured one) which would easily cost as much as you paid for the car.

If you want a project and its $300, buy it. If you want reliable transportation, skip it.

thanks for the help i like working on older cars but figured it was time i moved up in the car world. well i'll keep looking anyway.enjoy life and be happy.
