Why do the other branches of this forum suck?
My friends and I have been trying to get one of their cars running for a few days. Running down every lead. O2 sensors plugs/wires pvc hoses and what not. batteries. We finally get a break. Crankshaft position sensor. This is all for a 1994 Saturn sl1. Post a simple question in the Saturn sl forum No answer. I just wanted to know where the sensor was and how hard to get it out. We found it hours later in the dark with a bunch of flashlights. but the point is wtf dont leave me hangin. we all at least try to help here at the blazer board.
heres the link maybe im too impatient http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=536636 |

Re: Why do the other branches of this forum suck?
I think it's because the customer base of most vehicles just aren't the do-it-yourself types. For example, I don't think the average KIA owner (or Jaguar owner, for that matter) change their own oil or replace their own brake pads.

Re: Why do the other branches of this forum suck?
I have an 87 Buick Park Avenue that has a bad harmonic balancer. The harmonic balancer on a Buick is the external pulley attached to the crankshaft.
I mention this because I found great people on the Automotive Forums that not only helped in buying a replacement part but they also sent pics and other info regarding this particular malfunction. My point is: Don't think that just because you post a problem, someone will have an instant solution. Maybe the person who does is out of town, on vacation, on a cruise, sick, or just sick and tired, or the inevitable situation of us all. Another reason for this post since it relates to my 87 Buick Park Avenue is that anyone who has an engine that just quits (they call it stalling but that terminology doesn't make sense) may have the infamous GM crankshaft sensor problem. When the crankshaft sensor misses a beat, the computer is programmed to shut down the engine. On my 87 Buick, this could happen unexpectedly at any time or speed. The dealership could not find the problem until I told the service coordinator that coming down a hill and losing the engine, brakes, and steering almost every morning would lead to my owning the dealership and that the first person I would fire would be him. Troubleshooting the crankshaft sensor is not easy but it's something to consider when your engine just "quits" as you're rolling along. |

Re: Why do the other branches of this forum suck?
I've noticed the odd person post a non Blazer question on this board stating that it's the only forum where they get any help.

I have heard/seen the same kind of thing. I guess us Blazer folk are just nicer than the ricers.

Re: Why do the other branches of this forum suck?
I said in a previous post that my own experience with other branches of the forum was very good. If there is anything to gripe about, it's not the response of contributors but the lack of follow-up to suggestions made (common courtesy), or worst of all, not posting what finally solved the problem.
