Tamiya RX7 Savanna GT-Limited

I just picked this car up in the "used" section of my local hobby shop. I couldn't decide between this and a Hasegawa 924 Turbo with engine detail. Both were painted, but the 924 was really poorly painted and it was too think to try and sand. So I picked this kit up. All the parts, except the body pieces (body, sunroof, headlamps, and side fairings) the painting is really nice, so I am going to leave it they way it is, decal it, and clear it.

sorry that pic had personal information in it

I'll have more updates in a few hours.

You got it from Boardwalk! I was looking at it earlier today! I was gonna go back and get it but changed my mind. That 944 was pretty nice wasn't it? I got a Tamiya Supra Mk. III there on Thursday. A little Easy Off oven cleaner and I stripped the paint right off of it. The paintjob on that FC should only need a good polishing out. Good luck with it!

Re: Tamiya RX7 Savanna GT-Limited

Weekend before last, I was looking at that same Mk3, I didn't buy it b/c it was curbside, but I was going back for it today, but you beat me to it. Are there any shows in our area soon tonio? I have a 612 Scag, a Grand National, a Chevelle, a Fiat, and hopefully this FC that a begging to be shown. This FC is going to get a set of BBS rims from a Tamiya BMW 635csi race car. I am gonna do a custom exhaust and just an air filter on the turbo. What color sould I do the rims? Silver lip, Gold Center? I can only update on the weekends, because I do not have the internet where all my scratch building supplies are, thus you guys won't get to see exhaust progress. So this car should be done by next weekend but pics may not go up until the following weekend. I will update as much as possible today and tomorrow.

I cut up a pen to try and make a muffler, it looks good but I think it may be too big. What do you think? I also made a conical filter for the turbo.

Filter

Exhaust

There's one coming up in April. I'll get more info on soon. Also check out Johnny's Toys in Greenhills. Tim can get you almost anything you need as far as supplies and kits.

Re: Tamiya RX7 Savanna GT-Limited

Clear is going down

The motor is in, but the conical filter on the turbo is hard to see

Interior is essentially done

The suspension is going to be painted to look like tein coil-overs

Re: Tamiya RX7 Savanna GT-Limited

The underbody is almost done

The turbo has no physical connection to the airbox in this model, so even though I have a raceing style intake, I left the airbox in the engine bay because it fills it in more, and I like the artwork on it.

Completed Engine Bay. Will post good pics of the freshly cleared body tomorrow. Tonio, it would be great if you could pm me with more show details, are you going? I would like to meet you, I talked to russel, and he said he hasn't built anything in a year now, so i doubt he is going.
